Is Pirate Water Gluten Free?

When it comes down to ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages, Pirate Water cocktails have become famous among people who want to bring the bar to their homes. But is it gluten-free?

I am quite introverted, and most times, I want to access the bar without physically getting there. While it can be fun to make my own cocktails, deciding the flavors and all, sometimes I just want to enjoy the pleasure of a cocktail without making any effort whatsoever.

In this blog post, we will uncover the gluten-free truth behind the various pirate water flavors. From Miami Vice to Bahama Mama, we’ll explore to determine if they are appropriate for individuals with gluten sensitivity and celiac disease.

What is Pirate Water?

Pirate Water is a 16-ounce, 10% ABV malt beverage with four unique tropical flavors, which include Miami Vice, Sex On The Beach, Margarita, and Bahama Mama. While it may have “water” in its name, it is an alcoholic drink.

Pirate water is produced by the makers of MAmitas and Four Loko, Drink Four Brewing Company, in collaboration with BarstoolSports.

What does Pirate Water taste like?

Let us examine the tantalizing flavors offered by Phusion projects:

Bahama mama

The Bahama Mama has a strong note of orange and pineapple combined with a touch of tropical coconut and is a delightful and refreshing cocktail that is reminiscent of the popular Bahama Mama drink.

Imagine taking a sip of this cocktail, and your taste buds will be immediately greeted by the vibrant and tropical flavors of juicy pineapple and zesty orange. These two fruits come together harmoniously to create a sweet and tangy base that forms the foundation of the drink. The pineapple and orange notes give it a bright and refreshing quality that transports you to a sunny beachside paradise.

Miami Vice

The Miami Vice gives off a vibe of pure sunshine and summertime. You get that southern coast feeling of being surrounded by swaying palm trees while enjoying the warmth of the sun on your skin with a laid-back ambiance as soon as you take a sip.

Complementing the sweet, tart strawberry notes is the tropical essence of pineapple, which provides an exotic, tangy twist. But be sure that this drink is strong and would slap you at first, but get better as you drink on.

Sex on the beach

The Sex on the Beach is a delightful and refreshing drink that captures the essence of the ultimate fun in the sun. The notes of peach, orange, and cranberry combine to create that luscious flavor that we love in the sex on the beach served in bars.

The peach flavor contributes to the sweet, juicy foundation, is balanced with the tart and tangy cranberry notes, and is topped off with that citrus element from the orange.

Pirate Water’s Margarita is a pirate-approved concoction that pays homage to the classic and timeless flavors of a traditional margarita. With a playful “m”arrrgh”arita” twist, this beverage captures the essence of a beloved cocktail, all conveniently contained in one can.

The primary flavor of this “margarita” is the zesty and tangy taste of lime. It’s as if you’re squeezing fresh limes into your glass, resulting in a burst of bright and citrusy notes that awaken your taste buds. The lime flavor is refreshingly authentic, bringing a tartness that’s characteristic of the classic margarita.

A hint of salt is introduced to the mix, providing that quintessential salty rim element that margaritas are known for. This touch of salt enhances the overall taste profile, creating a balanced and satisfying contrast to the tangy lime.

Is Pirate Water Gluten Free?

Unfortunately, malted beverages like Pirate Water’s Sex in the Beach, Miami Vice, Margarita, and Bahama Mama are not gluten-free according to guidelines from TTB that regulate malt beverages in the US.

Alcoholic beverages are either distilled or fermented. Beers are fermented, and fermented alcohol may retain protein from the starting materials, from which sugar or starch is derived. While the distillation process eliminates proteins from the starting materials that provide the sugar or starch in alcoholic products,

All distilled spirits like gin, vodka, brandy, whiskey, rum, and tequila are considered gluten-free, even if their starting material for alcohol is barley, rye, or wheat.

When ordering beer, avoid beers labeled “gluten-removed” and stick with beers labeled gluten-free. TTB says that “beers labeled gluten-removed may still contain gluten and should be avoided if you’re on a gluten-restricted diet.

Is pirate water carbonated?

Carbonated drinks can boost your appetite by increasing your hunger hormone ghrelin, hydrating your body, and introducing bubbles to your stomach, making you burp, which relieves stomach pain. Pirate water is carbonated.

However, carbonated alcoholic beverages like pirate water contain additives that make them less healthy when compared to carbonated water.

Final Thoughts

Pirate Water is a fun drink that has a strong impression and will certainly make you feel happy after the first can. The flavors are all enticing, and everyone would definitely have their preference.

But the downside is that it contains gluten and may not be up for you to enjoy if you are gluten-sensitive or have celiac disease.
